Huge thanks to every person who dedicated his or her time and resources to this project so far!
Q: Why do you still run crowdfunding and ask for donations if the documentary has been completed? We get that question a lot. Here's why:
In order to complete the documentary and cover final costs of production Volya had to take a personal loan, which she, probably, will be paying out for years to come. There are also a lot of other expenses, such as printing promotional materials, registrations, copyright, website hosting, business license, accounting, etc., which quickly adds up to a significant amount. Therefore, we still need your support.
With the previously raised funds we were able to partially cover the production costs for the animation and graphics production, although we had to drastically reduce the amount of initially planned graphics.
Q: What is it about and how will it be distributed?
This documentary is intended to tell an English-speaking audience all about the oldest unaltered European songs that are still performed today. It includes some introductory information about the history of Belarus and talks about the ancient myths and stories behind the lyrics. Lastly, it talks about the important topic of the preservation and promotion of Belarusian folk music culture. The documentary will be available in English and Belarusian languages with possible Russian subtitles. This is a non-commercial project, and final digital version along with availability on streaming platforms will be distributed as “Set Your Price” model. Which means, that viewer will be able to download the documentary for free, and later on come back and make a donation, if desired. This documentary was written and shot up to the standards of National Geographic, PBS or Discovery Channel with the goal is to make it as entertaining, visually vivid and appealing as no documentary about Belarusian folk songs was made before!
If you can't support the project by getting any of the offered perks, just give a dollar, tell your friends, like our Facebook page or share our campaign on your social media page.
